Who we are
Founded in 2020, Beyond the Paw offers a bespoke dog training service based in Bolton, Greater Manchester — built on years of hands-on experience and a genuine love of the work.
I started working with dogs professionally in 2018 as a doggy daycare assistant at Dog's Country Club in Lowton, caring for large groups of dogs full-time until its closure in early 2020. I stayed on with the previous manager's new enterprise, Dee's Dogz, continuing those services until we finally closed the barn doors for good at the end of July 2020.
That felt like the perfect moment to put my experience to use, so I established a dog walking service offering unique, tailored exercise and enrichment. In 2020 I also became an Assistant Instructor at the highly respected Preston Trick Dogs. Working alongside Head Instructor Dawn Heaton, I've taught clients across a range of classes — from puppy training to competition obedience — and completed the Canine Hoopers World instructor course.
I've especially enjoyed working with reactive dogs at the "Paws with Flaws" classes, which has deepened my skills in this area. Client feedback has been very positive, and I think that reflects my calm teaching style.
In 2021, my love of training my own dogs led me to move from dog walking into a specialist training service — mainly one-to-one sessions, with regular blocks of classes on the horizon. I live in Bolton with my husband and three dogs: two Belgian Malinois crosses, Wyatt and Lilith, who we train and compete with in obedience, Mantrailing and Disc Dogs, and a Beagle, Tucker, our resident trick dog.
